O'Reilly likes him, so he's definitely above 200.

So, I was watching Glenn Beck's interview on CBS and he pointed out something that stuck out, for me. It was when they were talking about bailouts. He said something to the effect that it's good to let it fail.
He gets this from his own life. He used to be alcoholic, then he reached a bottom and just said "I can't live like this anymore". He seeked out help.. He was in AA (I don't know if he still is) and became a Mormon. I don't know if the economy was really falling off a cliff to justify the bailouts, however, supporting a bad company would be like supporting an alcoholic. You're just postponing the inevitable. |

I strongly believe in the importance of not buffering people from the consequences of their decisions. Failing has provided me with a lot of personal growth.

Can you please tell me in which book Dr. Hawkins quotes or mentions something about Glenn Beck, or if he mentions Glenn Beck on one of his CDs or DVDs? I am immensely curious about this. I find Glenn Beck to be a purveyor of half truths on some issues and I thought he was way out of line to call President Barack Obama a racist. His language appears incendiary at times. Hence my curiosity as to what Dr. Hawkins may or may not have said about him. Thank you, Trisha |

People can be integrous and still say things that are out of line/false. It's important to remember that Glenn Beck probably isn't enlightened, so his views are relative to the level that he's viewing from - integrous or otherwise.
There's a seeming pitfall of being a spiritual teacher and giving an endorsement...mainly that people will accept whoever is endorsed without maintaining the same degree of discernment -- it becomes a positionality that the person is either good or bad. I happen to enjoy a lot of Beck's commentary, but he does occasionally fall on the side of non-truth or half truths... It's still important to be wary of the message, because all messengers are potentially fallible. Many have fallen from high states to below 200. Only truth is worthy of having adherents. -Rob |

Glenn seems to have a real faith in God in addition to the virtue of humility. I trust him.

I trust him too, generally speaking...but what I was trying to say was that trust vs. don't trust is an unnecessary polarity. It's probably safer to use a gradient-like approach where one trusts the truth of an integrous political commentator, but one trusts the truth of an integrous spiritual teacher that calibrates things more.
Like a student in grade one might trust a grade 3 math tutor, who is trustworthy, but ultimately less reliable than a math tutor in grade 7. -Rob |
