It didn't take me too long to see that ratings and calibrations don't mean 'above and below 200', at least not in all cases, it seems.

On imdb.com The Big Blue's rating is listed as following:

USA:PG-13 (original rating) / USA:PG (original release) (edited for re-rating) / USA:R (director's cut)

Something About Mary is rated R, as is American Beauty and Rain Man..

Can anybody provide me with the LoC for director's cut? It seems that the doc has done one but at least I cannot find it out there.

Here are a few that I had in my room that I tried out (been sick tho, so take the numbers with a grain of salt).

140 - Gladiator
275 - Braveheart
320 - Big Fish

Grain of salt, huh?

Rob: Braveheart 275
TvF: Braveheart 275

Pretty darn good. I'd say it's probably about... uhhhhh... 275.

*lol*

Here are some movie calibrations I did this evening:

Some more Hitchcock movies to add to the ones in TvsF...

265 - The Lady Vanishes (1938)
168 - Rebecca (1940)
248 - Strangers on a Train (1951)
367 - Rear Window (1954)
285 - To Catch A Thief (1955)
238 - Topaz (1969)
140 - Frenzy (1972)

The Beatles...

440 - A Hard Day’s Night (1964)
367 - Help! (1965)

All the Marx Brothers films...

293 - The Cocoanuts (1929)
257 - Animal Crackers (1930)
270 - Monkey Business (1931)
325 - Horse Feathers (1932)
298 - Duck Soup (1933)
370 - A Night at the Opera (1935)
415 - A Day at the Races (1937)
247 - Room Service (1938)
380 - At The Circus (1939)
338 - Go West (1940)
315 - The Big Store (1941)
347 - A Night in Casablanca (1946)

A few miscellaneous...

499 - Kundun (1997)
381 - Beauty and the Beast aka La Belle et la bęte (Jean Cocteau Version) (1947)

I can't seem to resist some commentary on these. It's interesting to note that Hitchcock's highest calibration is "Rear Window". I didn't really expect this at first because of the voyeuristic themes, but then again it's really an indictment of voyeurism and a social comment on society at that time. It's also a story about two lovers who stop a murderer. And, as opposed to Vertigo, which calibrates at 105, in this film Jimmy Stewart realizes that he really loves Grace Kelly when she confronts the killer as she tries to get evidence against him. Stewart, unable to do anything but watch, falls in love with her in that instant for her bravery and devotion to him. It's really quite beautiful if you think about it.

I haven't seen Kundun but it was on TCM last night so I gave it whirl. It's about the Dalai Lama so that may explain the high calibration.

The Rear Window cal. is kinda surprising...but it definitely makes sense...'Acceptance' was kind of the spiritual theme that resolved more or less all the issues that were raised in the film...

I'm curious what the remake, 'Disturbia' calibrates at...

Shia LeBeouf is a great actor, but I don't expect that his version is as high, lol.

I get 347, which is 20 points less than the Hitchcock version. I've never seen 'Disturbia', so I can't really be biased. I looked at the imdb.com listing while I did the calibration.

I don't know if my calibrations are to be trusted, but here's what I got:

325 - Hairspray (2007)
265 - Spirited Away (2001)
405 - The Terminal (2004)
