Prior to the publishing of TvF Doctor Hawkins showed some of his calibrations to people in the lectures. The early version of the table at the end with Hatha Yoga and all that had 'Sedona Releasing' on it calibrated at 490.

The rumor is that "The Work" by Byron Katie is at about the same level despite the fact that her own calibration apparently is much higher.(As Levenson also was higher than 490).

There are certain discrepancies though with those and the ones ultimately published. As often happens they are refined depending on what aspects are held in mind.

My initial instinct with releasing was that it had to be quite high and I've found it very valuable as a skill. The organization marketing it is not that high. In fact it's sub 200.

Rob, Your calibrations seem pretty on from what I know. At least hitting the ball park.

Peace

Oops. Quite right.

Meanwhile, I did some poking around of my own with some on my shelf.

750's Perfect Wisdom - The Short Prajnaparamita Texts
as translated by Edward Conze

560 Philosophical Texts by St. Thomas Aquinas

550's The Essential Writings of Frithjof Schuon

511-519 The Philosophic Basis of Mysticism by T.H. Hughes

501-509 The Breath of God by Swami Chetanananda

480's Cosmic Consciousness edited by R.M. Bucke

440's The Hidden Gospel by Neil Douglas-Klotz

430 The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning

420's Out of My Later Years (compiled writings by
Einstein, mainly from the 30's and 40's)

A few side notes on the above...

Hughes calibrated in the 440's at the time he wrote the Philosophical Basis of Mysticism. With the book in the 500's, I checked, not having read it yet myself, and found that it contained a lot of quoting. He pulled together what appears to be some good stuff, drawing it into his own - thus, a probable reason for the difference.

Another case where there is a discrepancy is with Swami Chetanananda. Apparently, his LoC may have been below 200 at the time of the writing. It's possible that he was parroting things that he knew from before any fall or regurgitating understanding passed on by his teachers (one of whom was apparently on a fallen list). The intention behind his teaching may have been rooted in self-gain.

I could swear that St. Thomas Aquinas was calibrated in TvF, but couldn't find it. How does his Philosophical Texts sit in relation? I would also assume that the addition of God to philosophy raised the level - I believe philosophy itself calibrates in the 400's... anyone able to confirm?

Bucke, who edited Cosmic Consciousness calibrated at 505 according to TvF. The book is actually slightly lower than his own LoC, something we also see with WilbEr if our calibrations are correct.

Thanks, Rob, for the inspiration to do a little bit of testing of my own here!

And for shushes and giggles...

The overall cal. of all the books currently sitting on our left hand bookshelf (mix of religion / spiritual / science / history and a few alternative-crackpot theory type books) is between 401-409. The higher end books balancing any lower ones are the Lamsa Bible, King James Bible, Eye of the I, I:R&S, and the Prajnaparamita Texts listed above.

I noticed that there are some included which are on that site I mentioned the other day, also. And the calibrations seem to be the same.

http://de.spiritualwiki.org/Hawkins/BigTable

a site which is supposed to be updated regularly, as it is mentioned there.
As a "proof", sorry, "illustration" for context, I just would like to add a point I found on that site...

Translation of "...": "used as a name of God".

and: - on the same site:

no translation needed, I think.

Quite a few times I see on that site that Buddhist uses calibrate lower than Hindu uses.
Just an observation, and I spare you my own ideas about that.

I think I would need to know what Hawkins' (?) Sedona seminar is.

ps: thanks for the Jonathan-Livingston-Seagull, that is about my own estimation.

Still curious (well, yes, curious, -while being curious I will not know it) about Bill Harris.

Tim,

These are very interesting calibrations. Keep them coming. Although I haven't seen a book that I actually have other Dr. Hawkins' books, I still find it interesting. It certainly will make it easier if I ever come across these books and consider buying one.

By the way, when you calibrate the books, do you actually need to have them present or could I give you a title to calibrate?

Michael

With all due respect, I do not think anybody here is offering to do your calibrations for you. That seems like a manipulative question.

VonBegg... Some don't have the feel for kineseology. My own ability to feel my response comes and goes and some never really find the feel of how their body responds. If you were to ask here, you'd probably find that most who post here either don't test or haven't found the knack. Perhaps we'd feel differently about Hawkins if he refused to give any calibrations and told us to do them all ourselves... wouldn't come across quite right, would it?

I feel that his question isn't meant to be manipulative - he's asking straight out if someone would be willing. Nothing wrong with that.

Michael... No, it's not mandatory that a book be in front of you to calibrate it, just as you can calibrate a historical person without having met them. If you post the books you're interested in, perhaps someone will calibrate them for you. Personally, I usually stick to things I have. Honestly, I also rarely calibrate. The flurry of calibrations I did here were inspired by the moment... a little wild hair, I suppose.

Thanks for the calibrations for the Taize books! I wasn't aware of them really, but I have been going to Taize for awhile and it is constantly amazing. Not surprised at all for those calibrations.
