In an effort to get better at self-calibration I've started to calibrate some books that I've got here in my apartment, and figured that I'd share my results.
I'll post updates as I find time to go through more of them, but here are a few to get started.

965 - Transcending the Levels of Consciousness, by David R. Hawkins
480 - A New Earth, by Eckhart Tolle
470 - How to Enjoy Your Life in Spite of it All, by Ken Keyes, Jr.
460 - The Essential Ken Wilber, by Ken Wilber
450 - The Question of God, by Armand M. Nicholi, Jr.
330 - Eat, Pray, Love, by Elizabeth Gilbert

Of the list, I've only actually read Transcending the Levels of Consciousness in its entirety(don't recall seeing a calibration of it anywhere though), and of the others I've read about 1/3 of The Essential Ken Wilber, and just the introduction to How to Enjoy Your Life in Spite of it All...haven't even cracked open the others yet.
If anyone would like to confirm/non-confirm my results that would be lovely...

Peace,
-Rob

Rob...

The Ken Wilbur calibration seems to fit right in the range I calibrated his Brief History of Everything at. I know I posted it elsewhere in here, but seem to remember mid to upper 400's. Seems to fit, since you'd expect an author's books to generally fall within the same range unless there's a noteworthy fluctuation in the writer's LoC or change in subject matter.

I can confirm Nicholi's Question of God. At least that is exactly what I remember calibrating it. One of the first calibrations I ever did :) Surprising to see it on your list, really!

hm, I yet did not try to calibrate anything (at least not with this method), - I would be interested in a calibration of "Jonathan Livinston Seagull" - Richard Bach...
and, in any book by Bill Harris!!

but, as it comes........ if it's not out there, it just isn't.

Of both, I have got my intuitive calibrations - but as they are personal, I do not put them here.
I mean by this, I do not want to know because I'm curious but because I have my own and am interested if these fit in any others'...

LOL, yeah, The Question of God was supposedly on sale during the Christmas holidays and my dad picked it up thinking I might find it interesting...haven't read it yet, but I didn't expect that it would have been calibrated by anyone else either! least of all as one of the first that they did as well!

anyhow, here are a few more...done between classes...textbooks!

205 - The First Nations of British Columbia 2nd Ed., by Robert J. Muckle
376 - Unequal Relations: An Introduction to Race, Ethnic, and Aboriginal Dynamics in Canada 5th Ed., by Augie Fleras and Jean Leonard Elliott
475 - Feminist Issues: Race, Class, and Sexuality 4th Ed. edited by Nancy Mandell
450 - The Sedona Method, by Hale Dwoskin (this one was odd, may redo it later...first I was just holding the method in mind and got much higher...but then I redid it holding the book itself in mind and got 450)
212 - Race Against Time 2nd Ed., by Stephen Lewis

And here's the compiled list for anyone keeping track:

965 - Transcending the Levels of Consciousness, by David R. Hawkins
525 - Love, by Leo Buscaglia
520 - Confessions of St. Augustine, Translated by F.J. Sheed
510 - The Road Less Traveled-25th Anniversary Edition, by M. Scott Peck

475 - Feminist Issues: Race, Class, and Sexuality 4th Ed. edited by Nancy Mandell
470 - How to Enjoy Your Life in Spite of it All, by Ken Keyes, Jr.
465 - Plato's Five Dialogues: Euthyphro, Apology, Crito, Meno, Phaedo 2nd Ed., Translated by G.M.A. Grube

Rob...

I had a moment to find the post I mentioned about Wilbur, so you can add it to your list. It was actually a post to you a good while back...

Quote:

I calibrated Ken Wilbur in a flurry of calibrations a few weeks ago. It seems, he calibrates in the 500-510 range, though his book A Brief History of Everything calibrates around 466 or so (I know it was in the 460's, can't find the paper I jotted it on at present) - the difference may be one of time or perhaps because he chose subject matter in that range. At the time I ran the calibrations, I didn't realize it, but 466 is spot on for metaphysics.

Note that it's only 6 off of the Essential Wilbur that you calibrated. When you get numbers that plot that closely within the same general range, it speaks well for acuracy.

If I find other book calibrations around, I'll pass them on, possibly by editing this post if noone else has replied in the meantime.

It's Wilber, not Wilbur, for you auditory types :)

Re Sedona Method -- people online have calibrated the method at 682. The book may calibrate lower because of the emphasis on success. Remember that Levenson was also one of the fallen teachers just because of the emphasis on money (correct?)
